I'm a bit biased, of course, but I think it looks quite nice. How strong is the material on the colored ones? I'm sure my chrome ones are a bit different.
Did you paint the cover, or is it just really clean? lol

Lol its just really clean. The material seems durable but only time will tell. I have been emailing the guy back and forth. I asked him if he could make decals for the rest of the cover. It would save me the time and effort of painting it. Although I do like the orange with black background. Definitely worth 15$ imo. Really pops in my engine bay when I lift the hood. I would like a decal for the S&B logo on my intake tube as well. The nice thing is you can always remove a decal if you want to change it or don't like it.

Update on the decals

I see that this thread is over a year old, so it may be time to resurrect it.

I just finished painting my cover and used the same decals. I thought they worked great, good size for the bosses and quite sturdy and sticky. I thought the colors of black and silver with red letters looked good as I have a silver and black truck.
The cover is pretty rough so I did use a filler primer and a lot of sanding. It is still a little rough so would take a lot of work to make completely smooth.

I would give the decals a good recommendation.

that does look awesome. It would make me want to take my hood off and leave it off just so everyone could see it!

Engine cover decals on ebay

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but not new to these decals. I had one on my 2013 and its still on there looking like the day I put it on. I just got a 2016 and got the same decals and they are great.

I'll give you a few tips on applying so it'll last for years. If you've painted your cover then this won't apply b/c the decals will stick to the paint no problem. But if you haven't, pop off the cover and bring it in the house, clean it with water and dish soap and let dry ---- DON'T use alcohol to clean the cover, alcohol is used to remove residue of course but also removes decal adhesive as well ---- then after its really dry and warm from being in the house, cut apart each H E M I letters and 5 . 7 L V 8 for best results. When you get the decal and try to apply as a whole most letters are good but some slightly off and if you are a perfectionist it'll drive you crazy. Then after you start applying SLOWLY peel off the clear layer of tape. If you have a hair dryer in the house use it on the decal just a bit. It'll help make the sticky side of the decal adhere to the plastic. Every little bit helps.

I hope that helps. I bought mine from ebay a bit ago from a guy and I still have his email saved [email protected] He has a crap load of other decals I bought for my RAM as well, like the front, rear, airbag RAM head inserts, the RAM above radio bezel and RAM 1500 4X4 and HEMI emblems. All make the truck pop.
I also saw them on ebay as well which I see he is using one of my pictures from my 2013 so it's probably him as well with another account and for $12 shipped you can't go wrong. eBay item number: 252314935224

I hope that helps everyone.

Great looking cover. This is the color scheme I'm looking at doing for mine. What type of paint was used? Did you use an Adhesion Promoter before paint?

I used Dupli-Color paints and primer bought from local auto parts store. After sanding I used the DC Prep-Spray - I guess that is sort of a adhesion promoter.

It's been a year now and the paint and decals are holding up great.

Finished mine up today. Completely messed up the intake tube after running out of time but I will fix it soon. But all in all I'd say it came out pretty decent.
