2011 hemi. 24k miles. I run penzoil platinum and a wix filter.

Normal noise? It's a little louder when the truck is in gear.

Edit: I should point out that it's the chirping type noise in the background that concerns me.

Looking back at the notes I left, I guess it was a cd startup on a 88 degree day. Run long enough to start, back out if the garage, then get out and take video.

Welcome to HEMI ownership!!! Many have switched to redline or amsoil and have resolved most of their noise if not all and a few others it didnt do much. I only run amsoil anyway and will be going that route when my oil is due

Mine makes that exact same noise. Sounds worse underneath and usually gets worse as it warms up. I brought it to the dealer on Thursday and they kept it for two days listening to it. A total of 4 technicians listened to it and all agreed its normal. The service manager himself told me "Hemis are noisy". I wouldnt worry about it as long as it runs fine.

Thank you. I feel better about it now. Now I wonder why exactly it makes this sound. I'm curious.

The only thing I can think of is it has something to do with the lifters that are part of the MDS system. Those lifters basically colapse on cue to deactivate those 4 cylinders. I'm thinking they just get noisy after a while. My buddy has a 2006 300c with 85k and it makes virtually the same noise. He's had no problems with that car other than maintenance.

Hi All,
There have been several posts about this and it has been reported that it is the valve springs that are causing a lot of engines to make that ticking. I don't care if the whole Chrysler engineering team tells me it is normal for an engine to tick I will whole heartedly disagree and have them start a couple of new trucks on the lot so we can see if they tick too.
