I'm currently in the planning phase of my build, and want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything and also get any advice if there's something I could/should do differently.
Yes, I've spoken with my tuner (Ryan @ FRP), but also wanted to get some knowledge from some of y'all who've been down this road.

Current Setup (2015 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Laramie 4x4; 77,500 miles)
  • Stock 5.7L Hemi (unopened, original owner, well maintained)
  • 6.4L truck intake manifold
  • Stainless Works 1 7/8" long-tube headers
  • Oil Catch Can
  • FRP tune
  • AEM X-Series wideband AFR gauge
  • Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30 + FRAM FE2 filter (oil changes every 5k miles)
  • 3.21 gears w/ peg leg rear end
Planned Power Adders & Supporting Mods
  • TorqStorm centrifugal supercharger kit
    • Target: ~8–10 psi on 93 octane
    • Includes ATI damper and crank pin kit
  • Camshaft: FRP Hellfire 2.0 + MDS delete kit
  • Injectors: FIC 775cc minimum, likely stepping up to FIC 1000cc for headroom
  • Fuel System: FRP or MMX twin-pump setup
  • MAP Sensor: 3-bar
  • Spark Plugs: One-step colder w/ tighter gap
  • Tuning by FRP
  • AEM boost gauge
Intercooler & Piping
  • Looking for suggestions on a same-side layout, so I don’t have to run dual 180° bends from the driver’s side.
  • 3.5" hot/cold side piping (recommended by TorqStorm)
  • Welded IAT and BOV bungs (local fab)
Performance Goals
  • "Reliable" ~500–550 WHP on pump 93 (closest E85 is over an hour away)
  • Maintain strong low-end torque for towing (~4,500 lbs occasionally)
  • Towing is not my main concern, but I do occasionally tow my 2,500 lb SxS + 16’ tandem trailer + gear (roughly 4,500 lbs total)
  • Mainly looking for a fun street truck that is able to tow reliably when I need to
I will likely also switch to 3.92 gearing, as the 3.21's have 8th gear virtually useless in my current setup. Truck is constantly downshifting on any slight incline or head-wind at highway speeds.

Edit to add: I'm not planning a 6.4 swap at this point, I have future plans for that. I know somebody's gonna say it, so just wanted to make that clear up front.

Reliable 550 rwhp on a stock bottem end 5.7 might be a bit of a stretch, especially if you like to use that 550 rwhp fairly often. What's Ryan reconmend to make a reliable 550 rwhp,go with what he tells you.Have you told him you want that much power at the wheels,as there's a big differance between 550 at the crank, and 550 at the wheels.550 at the wheels means you need to make somewhere around 630/640 at the crank, and that's pushing a stock bottem end 5.7 to the outer limits as far as reliability goes
Have you considered a turbo instead,it's easier on the engine and transmission.

Yeah, we had a long talk about it and he feels confident with 5-550 at the wheels and this combo should get there easily. Much beyond that and he could see problems. I even asked about gapping the rings, and he didn't think it was necessary. He said he had one truck pushing 21psi (assuming he was talking about Frostbite), but that's a completely different setup for a different purpose, and I'm not interested in anything close to that amount of boost.
I honestly don't know enough about turbos to make that decision, but I ain't opposed to it. The thing with the torqstorms from what I've read is that they start building boost under 2k rpms (around 1800), and I like that to get things moving with a load. From what I do know about turbos, they need to spool up the rpm's to build some boost correct?

A properly sized turbo set-up will build boost almost as quick as a belt driven supercharger does, and is easier on the engine.I'm guessing you're looking at the torque storm because it's cheap, have you actually priced out what it's going to take to have everything fabbed up,as it sounds like you'll be paying somebody to build the piping,a complete bolt on Pro Charger kit that has everything, and can be bolted on by the average guy on his driveway in a day, might be as cheap in the long run once you factor in sourcing all the parts and paying somebody to make all the piping etc,
Get ahold of Mike Walker at the link i posted and talk to him about a turbo combination for your needs,it might be even cheaper then a torque storm

Yeah, I’ve looked into both for sure. It’s not that I’m trying to be cheap, I just like the torqstorm better for some reason. As you said, there’s not much difference in price once I add in all the supporting pieces. Also, Ryan highly suggests fueling upgrades on top of what the procharger kit offers, which the tuner kit doesn’t come with that stuff anyways.
I’m in contact with Mike, and definitely leaving that option open. He has read this post.
