Hey Dodge fam,

So my Dodge motor blew and I need to swap a motor asap. I work in a junkyard so I can easily get a motor. Now the issue is it's hard for us to get a ram just like mines. I have a 2003 1500 3.7 V6 mag. A 94 Dakota V8 mag. Came in and I wanted to know if it'll fit and if it does what do I need to take out from the truck? Plz and thank you, my truck is a big help for me with making money. If not what motors will fit in my truck?

So you want to put a 318 or 360 in place of a 3.7 almost 10yrs newer....? No problem, piece of cake. No, I'm lying. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will be useful from that Dakota in your Ram. While that type of engine was available in your year, the engine control and wiring is very much different and you would have to find a 360 powered 02-03 for harness and PCM (for starters). You would actually have a much easier time swapping in a 4.7 V8 in place of that 3.7 (same engine family).

Thank you for the information, yeah I was going through the wires on the truck and realized how many conversions I have to do. I found the same 3.7 in a 07 ram ....the wiring looks the same as well....I haven't put it in yet but I'm hoping it'll be a plug in n play. Again I've never done work on trucks or swapped motors in trucks so I don't know if a 07 motor still be the same as the 03. Internet isn't giving much info about it.

For the most part, a 3.7 is a 3.7, very little changed during its production run except for one biggie; crank tone wheel. As long as the tone wheel has the same tooth count, it'll drop right in with the exception of maybe a few sensors and you use the ones from the 03. Do NOT try to adapt 07 PCM/wiring from the 07 to try and put in your 03 (in case that was a thought you were having).
