So my wife was driving my 13 Sport this morning. The low fuel message appeared on the EVIC. Very normal, the truck was in deed low on fuel.

She does maybe 2-3 miles and then she says that suddenly, a truck appeared on the EVIC and the right turn signal started blinking as if it was telling her that she was out of fuel and that she needed to pull over.

She did make it to a nearby gas station but my question to all of you is; is that even possible or did my wife have a moment?

:wtf:

We try to do the same too, normally, when the gas light turns on, you can still go for a good 30-40 miles before you go out of fuel...(that's what the manual says anyways)

She got caught completely off guard and got pretty stressed out when she saw the truck on the EVIC and that the turn signal turned on...

I know that our trucks are pretty smart, but are they that evolved?

Ah, I havent taken mine that low either................and I dont wanna try it. Id be stranded for sure. Nice avatar, LOL. BTW since we are talking EVIC stuff. My Hemi was getting a CV boot install at the dealership the other day and I was driving a rental truck they gave me (a Ford 4dr F150 v8) nice and roomy, but not a hemi. Anyway I was on the highway and noticed the evic kept saying"truck at max speed" or truck near max speed" and that was at like 80 mph. Is that something the rental place added or do Fords just say that?

Hehe thanks! Found that online and thought it was pretty funny! Loved that movie hehe!

As for the Ford, pretty sure they had it in Valet mode or something...with the all the technology in these trucks, pretty sure they can have that done on any vehicule. Usually, it's just a matter of doing a precise series of commands/buttons...I know that for the ford, you can set it on the EVIC...don't know about the Ram though...

Technology. Big brother probably can "listen in" into our trucks via this tech also, LOL.

They set it that way with the key. My fusion had that as well, you can set the max speed per key used.

Sounds strange, but possible.

I was sitting in the truck (running) inside a automated spray car wash machine. Suddenly the EVIC showed a truck, with the brake lights on, but the right rear lamp was out. I believe it even spelled out "Brake Light Out".

I thought WTF ? These trucks are smart enough to not only tell you when a bulb goes, but it will tell show you exactly which one is dead with the truck "cartoon". Wow!

After getting home and having someone else step on the brake pedal, I noticed that in fact, I did have a brake light out. Odd thing was, that it was actually the 3rd brake light at the rear of the cab that popped due to water penetrating the assembly (common problem). The right rear bulb was fine.

Replaced the bulb, and both the cartoon and the message went away.

So, they are pretty damn smart, but not THAT smart. I think the "cartoon" pic of the rear of the truck with the right rear lamp out is a generic shot used for many different malfunctions. That is probably what she saw.

Though I may be wrong. I've run mine pretty low. But not that low in the PW. In the '07, it would do the DTE countdown, then bottom out at zero with the needle really pegged in the Red at E. The overhead read out then goes completely out, and it had about 2 Gals left before it ran dry, the one time it happened in the 1500.

So, it is plausible, as they say in MythBusters.

I misjudged my gas tank once and let the tank get pretty low. The EVIC said 13 or 14 miles left I believe, but I did not have anything light up out of the ordinary.

That's really strange! I'll try and call the dealer to see if it's normal that it did it...she claims that it was as if it was really showing her to pull over and that she was out of gas completely. Good thing the computer didn't take over the steering controls and pulled her onto the side of the road lol!! I'll ask her if she had some wacky tobacco prior to that incident lol!

You might not want the answer to that last question, especially of she was driving your truck.

My truck has a 32 gallon tank (Low fuel light comes on around 27 ish). I've put 29.5 gallons in it and never experienced what you're referring to. At that point there is no longer a distance to empty, it just says "low".
