When pulling our 9,000# trailer downhill does the exhaust brake activation conflict with the transmission downshifting when the tow/haul switch is activated? It just seems like the two fight each other. Is there really a need to have both on? With only one of the two activated I rarely need to step on the brake even on a 7-8% grade. Thanks for any recommendations.

With just 1000 in the bed of my 22 I will turn off T/H and leave EB on, with both EB & T/H on it wants to down shift when its not needed, now turn off T/H when going down hills with even a 1000 load in the bed...

I don’t use tow/ haul when pulling my 7800 lb TT. I put the E brake in auto mode and it brakes fine that way esp with cruise control running.

On our first trip with the new truck, I forgot to use tow/haul...and it pulled (and stopped) like a dream. I honestly didn't use the Engine Brake either, because honestly there's not a huge need with an 8500 lb camper. The drag from just pulling it does well enough to knock off speed.
