Last few days truck has developed a ticking that sounds like a donut gasket has a small leak. Ticks for a few seconds and goes away.

How do I go about fixing this?

Also, I had my exhaust done about a month ago, but from the cat back. Could that have caused this?

The rear exhaust studs are a common failure point. They break over time causing an exhaust leak.

You'd have to remove the exhaust manifolds and remove the broken bolts. If you've never removed broken bolts I wouldn't receive mm end tackling it by yourself. Usually at the dealer I work at, we weld a nut onto the broken bolt to remove it.

I keep forgetting to try the nut trick. I have seen you mention that before.

It's the only way to do it. When we first started running into this problem we were using drill bits and extractors with varying rates of success. After a couple heads getting ruined from holes not being straight or unable to get out the bolt, we tried it. Since we all moved to that method we haven't lost yet.

Even when they break off below flush with the head we still have got them out. Just build up some weld on the broken stud till it sticks out a bit then weld your nut onto that and don't be shy with the heat or amount of weld. Might take a few tries sometimes but 100% success for us.

Are you saying the stud broke on the block?

Nobody can tell you what is broken on your truck without seeing it. But it is very common for the manifold to warp and break the rear bolts. That is likely the problem. You can usually get it the wheel well or get under it and take a look.

Not real sure on the cost. You will have to call around to find out. Around 600ish if you have someone else do it. The job takes a couple hours and you need all new bolts and likely a new manifold. It just happened to mine last week. I got a set of headers on the way for it. Hopefully that will take care of it.

Before I spend a pile of money here, any chance this is covered under the 7yr/100k warranty?

Call your local dealer, give them your vin and they can tell you if you have any warranty left. Power train is usually 5/100
