First off...Merry Christmas!

All I did was swap the stock muffler with the Borla Turbo XL 3"/dual 2.5" and removed the resonators.

Would I really notice a difference (is it worth it?) by doing a full cat back system...which at this point, would only involve increasing the pipe size to 3" past the muffler?

What do you guys think?

1. Welcome
2. There should be a big difference, go to YouTube and look it up, I know theres a video of it. Just not sure where
And how big is your engine? If its a 5.7 hemi. I'd do high flow cats. Those are pretty loud.

Convert, for now.
Engine
small
decrease in wallet size, other than a small change in sound, no power gains.

Honestly, I'd do electric cut outs, get best of both worlds. And are you running true dual?

Thanks Graygoose. That's what I was thinking.

Thanks TheMaddog. Yes I have the 5.7.
Factory dual pipes (not true dual).
What are electric cutouts?

An electric cutout is basically a Y-pipe with one end closed off, and you put it before the muffler, that way, when you open up the closed off side with the motor (thus making it electric, unlike the ones a while back that had to be unscrewed) it bypasses the muffler and becomes louder.

You mean intakes give no added performance?!

I see. Thanks BlackedOutHemi..sounds interesting.

An intake my itself, the gains are marginal. With new exhaust, you will see better performance. And vice-versa.

So the intake I have paired with the Borla muffler makes for some decent gains then? I'm somewhat of a noob.

Just swapping the muffler out, no...but having a more free flowing, less bends than the factory exhaust...yes.

The factory exhaust really doesn't have that many serious bends in it already...just what is needed to make it dual out the back. You'd still have to bend the pipe to make it come dual out the back(just like the aftermarket cat back systems). They make pretty much every bend the stock system does.

Man...now I feel all disheartened...lol. Effectively, you're saying my intake and muffler have done nothing for me?

The y pipe connecting the cats is extremely restrictive, as are many other parts on the exhaust.

That would help for sure. None of the piping left on my truck is stock. At all, from the headers back.
