Ok I have an iq above 100 but I never heard of an exhaust recharging/ recycling process happening while I’m towing my RV. The dash posted a message in mid trip that the exhaust was performing a recharge ( or something to that effect) that took 60 miles and over an hour yo perform. Can someone explain this process to me?

Its a cleaning cycle ( aka a regen) to clean soot out the DPF that builds up over time, your truck will regen approx. every 24 engine hours, sooner if it detected soot build... FYI DPF is short for diesel particulate filter... If it took 60 miles to complete a regen the soot must of packed there, when mine does a passive regen it will complete it in about 20 minutes at or above 55 MPH around 16-20 miles, a bit longer if at lower speeds/RPM's when I see mine doing a regen I head straight to the hwy and lock it in 5th gear so I can run RPM to around 1700-1900...
