Brand new to forum and Ram 2500 w/6.7- I just arrived after driving for about 450 miles on the highway and noticed black soot on the rear driver side body just behind rear wheel. Truck is a 2020 with 6000 miles on it. Ideas of what happened to cause this? Passenger (exhaust) side is clean……

Maybe some other Cummins rolled coal on you, out of respect of course.

If it was on the exhaust side there would be a slim possiblity it was from a regen. Being on the driver's side I would say it's something you picked up from the road.
Only place you might see soot from the engine would be before the DPF, there would be lots of evidence if it was leaking from the exhaust/engine.
