alright guys,
I am new to the forum, so forgive me if youve seen a hundred of these threads.
I have set an appointment this weekend to get true dual exhaust put on my 12 ram SLT. Now that the appointment is set, I am having issues deciding on which mufflers to get. The youtube videos have basically confused me more.
I want to definetly be able to hear my truck from the interior, and have a good powerful sound outside. But I dont want the neghibors calling the cops when I pull in at night, and I dont want it to be so loud in the cab that I cant hold a conversation or make a phone call. I am thinking either a Flowmaster 40 (as recommended by the shop) or the 50 series which seems quieter. Im afraid 40 might be too loud? HAS anyone had experience with either or both? please help me out!
thanks

I had to swap my old single 40 series because the drone was so bad on the interstate

I am personally a fan of the 14" it is the loudest single in/dual out with 3" inlet and 2.25" outlet you can get, it is a strait through muffler which is always nice, I like them with the resonators on, the do drone a little however no where near as bad as the super 40's, not even in the same ball park, 18" maggies are very good as well and minimal drone with or without the maggies, this is based off of my experience with my 2012 5.7 hemi, I am sure others will have some advice to share as well. My favorite sounding set up from magnaflow though is the 14" while keeping the factory resonators.

Thanks
Jeremiah

I've also got the Magnaflow 14, but it's on a single out system.
I also removed the resonator for more sound.
I love it now.
You can hear it in the cab but it's no where near annoying.
If you're on the highway with the radio on low volume you can't even hear it.

Ive got the 14" setup also with resos still on and love it can hear it in cab but barely, our cabs are good for keeping noise out, nice quiet rumble at idle, nothin to get the neighbours mad while its idling, and really growls when you get on it

I wouldnt do flowmaster, they use a baffle design. you dont need more air restriction.

I went with the 18" Magnaflow. The sound is just right. Just a slight drone in the cab at about 1800RPM but its nice and mellow. When crusing it has a nice purr, and at wide open throttle it is aggressive!

good luck with your choice

I second this recommendation, sounds great with an intake.

thanks guys... its a really tough decision. Since I dont have the dual out as of right now, kI have to have it built in order to exit properly through the new dual exhaust bumper. I am afraid to make the wrong choice, and basically be stuck with it or pay again to have it redone. Thanks for the input, it does help. I will be looking into magnaflow right now!

<--- 22" Magnaflow. No drone with MDS or cruising freeway speeds, but it sounds nice and aggressive when you open it.

Hi All,
So here is my deal. I have a 13 1500 SBRC single exhaust. Want a nice sound and decent rumble on acceleration but DON'T want that stinkin' drone. Also want that UGLY resonator that is hanging down in the back of the truck gone.
So what will do that for me? Checked out Aero but not so sure that is the road to go. Also don't mind putting another resonator on as long as it doesn't hang down like the factory one does. That thing can yank the exhaust out from under the truck if it were to hang up on something while off-roading. Oh yeah I want it to sound like a hemi too.

I have a 14in magnaflow and LOVE it. Flowmaster has a nice sound but it's a chambered design which increases resistance and it also has drone issues.

I believe you would be happy with a 14 or 18 inch magnaflow. Neither are loud enough to make your neighbors call the police, you can hear them in the cab with little drone, they are a flow through design and have a powerful sound!

Thanks guys... I have narrowed my search considderably, but still not there. I have spent hours on youtube listening to exhaust videos, but they are sort of hard to get a real feel from. I willl either go with the flowmaster 50, or a magnaflow 18in... resonators deleted, I think either of those will produce a healthy sound inside the cab, correct?
