Hey guys,

I'm looking into getting a lift kit for my 17' Ram 1500 with factory air ride. I've found the BDS and the AEV kits but they both say that they cannot be used with factory wheels. I want to use my factory rims with 35" Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I'm confused as to why I can't use factory rims if they are the same size as an aftermarket rim.

**I have the "Limited" 1500 rims.

As far as I know the AEV 4th gen kit is discontinued.

But I also think the issue with the factory wheels is their offset. In fact as of the last time I looked the AEV 4" lift needed 18" wheels because they couldn't fit the knuckle inside a 17"

The 2" Mopar lift says you can't use it with factory 17" wheels but I've been on that combo for six years now.. the only thing I can't do is run tires wider than 285 wide.

The offset on factory rims cause rubbing on suspension parts with taller and wider tires. You should be ok with a 33" but probably not a 35".

Offset on most if not all factory rims across all sizes and trim levels is +18 to +20 and as previously stated above, wider and larger tires will rub suspension parts as well as fenders and front bumper. A 17-18” wheel with a 0 to -6 offset on 35/12-5” will look great (ask me how I know ;) )

Your truck looks great. Can I use the factory rims and 35"'s if I use a spacer?

Yes you can. I was doing the exact same thing prior to my new setup. Let me know if you need spacers as I have a set for sale.
