Hi everyone. I am looking to replace my differential on my Ram. While rummaging for options online, I found a re-manufactured one at RockAuto. It is described as being a "Famous Brand" differential assembly but no indication as to what brand it is...other than that it's supposedly famous. Does anyone know anything about them? The one I am looking at is here. According to the fine print at the bottom of that page, it has a 3 year warranty on it.

Thanks in advance!

Why not have a competent driveline shop do a proper rebuild on yours, using quality parts, rather than some commercial so-called re-man, which was probably dug out of a wrecking yard and spray painted black?

Get a Detroit tru-trac, they do not wear out like the factory ones or other clutch type due ,they are pretty much bulletproof. Plus they just started manufacturing them for our rear ends.you will not be disappointed with this differential.

Thank you both for your replies. With regard to the first comment, I don't know of any quality driveline shop in my area. I rebuilt the 8.8 in my 95 F150 and it went together really well. I tried to do the same with this one and I haven't had the same success. I lost my preload and had to replace the pinion bearing and reset everything. It seemed to go well for a while but on my way back from a four hour trip to north Arkansas, it was grinding bad. I'm tired of fooling around with it and I just want to get a replacement I can put in and be done. The truck is beat to hell and back already (passed downto me that way)...I just need to pull a few more years out of it before I can upgrade.

I'll look into the tru-trac..that may be a viable option for me. I'm still curious about what the "famous brand" is though. I found one that was rebuilt by Cardone and it seemed to be pretty good from what I read. And there's another one by Powertrain Products that gives a 5 year warrant on it. Clearly, I have some homework to do!
