RAM representative please read and DM me please.

I've been to the dealership, they told me RAM will reject their request for paint chipping. I've been on hold trying to speak with customer service for approximately 1hr.

I have a 2024 Limited 1500 that came with 1 inch lift and off-road package. Pearl Coat with metallic flakes.

I work from home, rarely drive on gravel, and don't do much off-roading.

I've driven on gravel 1 time for roughly 2 miles for a wedding, going about 15 mph bc I hate gravel. That caused paint to chip off from every side of my truck.

It's now winter, I just cleaned my truck and upon drying it off I now noticed a bunch of small pin hole sized rust spots on every side of the truck. There's also more paint chipped off and I haven't driven on anything other than pavement.

This is unacceptable. A $90,000 vehicle no matter what brand shouldn't have paint chip off for no apparent reason or have rust spots with this low of milage. I have maybe 10k miles on the truck. I never had any rust or paint chips on my 19 Laramie that had 90k miles on.

It's paint..... not anodized coatings. My wife's Armada is a pavement princess and hasn't even seen grass but it still gets chips. Can't say that I've seen any that don't. I keep a color matched bottle of touch up paint for all my vehicles and as soon as I see a chip I correct it. If part of that off-road package are wider tires you may see more chips because the mud guards may not completely block the sling from the tires.

Even on pavement there is debris all over the roads that gets slung up.

What color is your truck? If it's white it could just be "rail/snow plow dust" or whatever it's called. Clay bar makes quick work of it as it's not actually your truck rusting. Every time I wash my white truck I plan on it being a good part of the day because of the mentioned above crap. A wash turns into wash, clay bar, and wax.

If you do have actual rock chips down to bare metal thats starting to rust good luck with getting them to warranty it. They give every reason not too and since it's rock chips and not a paint imperfection you're probably sol sorry to say.

Mine has chips along the rockers and in the dually flares....it happens. I go off road occasionally. Paint is not immune to stone, gravel or any other debris that gets kicked up from the road. Mine is also Pearl White. It sucks....I live in the area where they dump salt everywhere during the winter....There are small rust spots on mine that are going in and getting taken care of as soon as this white $#it is gone.

if you turn left on almost anything but concrete, your Right fender, near the door will get minor chips.
Only fender flaps will slow it down

Your Rust protection coverage, means that a HOLE has to be through the metal,
so that is almost impossible to get repaired at Ram's cost

That's a great point!

I get that sometimes on mine but nothing that a little iron removal spray won't take care of. :)

Appreciate the replies. Tires aren't popped out due to off-road package, just thicker tread. I'm just a little shocked. I've owned 4 RAM previous to this one and only 1 had paint issues, but that was literally peeling off so they fixed that. Guess I'll never buy another white truck.

Why is it so hard to get a hold of anyone from RAM? I work for a large motor company and when there's an issue, I feel like it gets raised to the appropriate people in a timely fashion. I can't even get someone on the phone.....regardless of whether this is faulty paint or not, shouldn't be this difficult to speak to someone.

It's called "fallout" - those tiny rusty pin-dots.
You'll see it a lot on the tailgate, too. Commonly from brake dust and/or contamination in the air.
This is common, and more noticeable on white/pearlescent finishes.

You'll need to acid bath your truck and than have it, at the very least, waxed. But I'd recommend a ceramic coating on it.

As for paint chipping; hear you that you paid $90K for the truck, but remember it's a North American vehicle and the paint process is not the best.

If you're that concerned about the chipping, get a quality PPF put on and then you're worries are over.

their is your issue a white truck, brake dust and crap get stuck in the paint and start to rust. You need to clay bar your truck and give it a good wax or ceramic coat when your done. I have to do this to my truck every year and yes its white and when you run your hand over the paint especially behind the tires and the doors you can feel the crap in the paint, after im done with the clay bar it feels like glass and looks 100% better. Your not going to get away from actually stone chips they happen unfortunately and with the off road package your giving the stones and crap a little extra height to come up and hit the side of the truck.

You can use a iron removal spray but that will not actually remove the crap out of the paint as good as a clay bar will.. This is the first thing i do every summer as soon as the first nice day hits, every year it gets a little quicker and im assuming that the ceramic coat it slightly building up every year and helping.

OP can you post pics? Seems like you're more than likely suffering from the fallout that CanuckRam is talking about. It happens on all cars, but is the most noticeable on white. All 3 of my vehicles are white so I guess I am used to it. A good iron remover spray will tell you. Try some, then wash it off. I'd bet a lot of those "rust spots" will vanish.

Then as some have said... a good claybar followed up with a wax or ceramic coating will help prevent them in the future.
