I am installing a second Satellite / GPS shark fin antenna on my truck because when I put my truck camper on the truck, it blocks the shark fin antenna located on the roof above the driver side. I am able to connect the second shark fin antenna wires by accessing the a plug in point behind the passenger side pillar molding. since I am using a duplicate MOPAR wiring harness, I am planning on discounting the roof shark fin antenna located int he passenger side pillar and plugging in the new shark fin wiring harness at the same point then run it to the front passenger side front of the hood where I will attach the shark fin antenna by use of a custom mount with magnets. My issue is how do I route the wire harness from the passenger pillar through the firewall (has to be through the passenger side firewall because the harness is not that long) to the front of the passenger side front hood. The blue connection in the passenger pillar is the connect and disconnect point to run the 2nd harness to the front of the passenger side hood area.
Thanks! 2017 Ram 3500 6.7 diesel

I think they're roof-mounted for reception purposes. (above any vehicle metal)
Have you researched any problems with mounting it that low?

Take the Glove compartment doors off
You will then be able to see the ********* heater box, you should also be able to pull the right foot kick panel, that allows you to see the radio antenna.

If your hood is open, you may see sunlight

If not, then measure both under the hood & around the Big heater box, there should be a place to drill without damaging something

If you drill high, then you would be in the cavity where the windshield wipers reside :)

I saw other truck campers mover their antenna to the front hood and mounting it there. They either did the modification on another make vehicle or used a different satellite antenna. But I did not read any negative reception feedback in their posts. Tomorrow, I will connect the antenna, run it outside of the vehicle to check reception. After all, what's the point of trying to punch through the firewall if I can't get reception. Thanks for thought!

They do have satellite antennas that stick onto the vehicles windshield
They run the wiring under the windshield glass & stick the antenna to the glass in the right or left lower corner.
What i liked about the antenna being there, i hardly ever lost signal when under a bridge.

I just went to a campers website, it tells about where other camper do to get signal

I believe the cab over head on my truck camper will still block the signal.

It seems to me that where ever you put the antenna on flat surface, that camper will block the signal when you are going in certain directions.

My thinking is if it was mounted on the angle of the windshield, it would catch the signal for longer periods of time.

If my Dad was here, he could say for sure, he knew a lot about radio waves
