Installing Kenwood ILX-W650, do I have to change out the USB and aux pod in center console,and if so what is needed?

But to answer your question, yes, the new head unit won't work with a USB hum, which is scary the ram USB is. There is a replacement USB for ram that goes in the console but they are hit age miss. You are better off getting a USB flush mount port, drill a hole and mount in the dash. Android auto and car play are both sensitive to usb cable length, no more than 6ft. Any longer and it gets glitchy.

I installed one with my installation of the Kenwood system I purchased. I found out that it would works great for music on usb sticks but it doesn't work well with car play. I have two usb ports so I use port one for car play and have the cable sticking out from under the dash by the transmission hump. Port two goes to the hub in the center console and I can play music and use car play for navigation at the same time.
