Hello everyone, long time Ram fan here, I finally found the Ram I've been looking for.
I've been a Ram fan ever since I saw Twister in '97, and I've always wanted that truck. Flash forward to now, I work at BNSF, and I make a good amount of money, and it finally hit me that "woah wait a minute, I can finally afford to buy the silly thing!!!"
So I started my hunt- I was after a '94-'96 Ram 2500 4x4, club cab, V10, with the 8 foot box. Found one EXACTLY like the one from Twister two years ago, but it was so rusted away that I didn't go for it.
I found a white one 15 minutes away from me, waited 2 weeks to hear from the owner, I finally got a call as I'm going to work that I could come look at the truck... One hour later, I get another call that it's sold. To me, that just made me even more frustrated, but I figured that meant something better was out there.
Lo and behold, 5 hours later, this shows up...
"96 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT 3/4 ton extended cab, longbed. 4 brand new LT245/75r16 Firestone TransForce HT LRE 10 ply tires! 8.0 liter V10 engine, auto transmission, 4 wheel drive. Cold AC, power windows, power door locks, power steering, power brakes, tilt, cruise, power driver's seat, cd player, towing package, brake box, 5th wheel / gooseneck plate. Red with gray cloth interior. Regularly maintained. Runs + drives smooth and strong. 249,925 highway miles - daily driver. Recent: front and rear brake jobs + new rotors, radiator, serp belt, idler pulley, quiet dual exhaust. Looks like the truck used in the movie, "Twister". Make an excellent farm / construction / work truck, car hauler, or daily driver. "
The EXACT thing I've been looking for. First owner used it to pull a horse trailer, and the second owner drove it as a daily driver. No rust, no big dings, interior looks good and it has a good amount of fresh work done to it.
I got it for $4600, which I think is a really good price for the condition it's in. The only thing is that I have to drive it back 556 miles from Nashville to Kansas City. Haha, road trip time!
The only things I need to do to it is find some NOS '96 cab clearance lights, and yes, I'm going the distance, I'm having someone make Dorothy. It's always been a dream of mine to make a replica of the truck from Twister, and it's going to happen. And yes, I will be storm chasing in it. I hope I get some ridiculous reactions I really look forward to passing the guys with the Dominator and the TIV's.
I'll also be driving around some of the filming locations of Twister in 2016 for Twister's 20th. Pretty excited to get this going.
Also helps that I need a 4x4 pickup, and well, here it is! (oh yeah, the license plate's gonna be "F5PRF" for F5 Proof haha)
