At the farm this weekend for Easter- what better time to do a quick mod to the 1500? We installed the TTC-1223 replacement coils and the Rancho 9000XL adjustable shocks in the rear. Still waiting on the front pair of coilovers to arrive- that will be a next week project. All in all, a case of beer is what it took us. I cheated- had the brother in law help. He's a Chrysler tech- so it made things way quicker since he has had these things apart more times than I can count. I made his smart house work so it's an even trade ;)
Removed the wheels and wheel well liners (for access to the shock mounts) and removed the hangers for the brake lines and ABS lines- made it easier so you weren't babysitting the brake lines during the install. Old coils came out easily enough, new ones in easily enough. make sure the rubber crown on the top of the coil is situated in the same way it came off- evident by the indent from the old coil. Pictures attached show where we started, what we ended up with, the size difference of the coils and the truck with the full tongue weight of my TT on it (550-600lbs). What a difference! Next week or two, the quicklift loaded will go on and all will be well. We did put the Airlift 1000 in now just in case I needed them- easier now than later. But as you can see, they likely aren't needed.

EDIT: Fixed attachments :shakehead:

Oh, and more important;ly, how is the ride when empty? Harsh? 2500'ish? It sure would be nice not to have to mess with the airbags, and I could take a couple inches out of them for the same stance I have now, with less sag. Hmmmm

Actually the ride is pretty tame. I was surprised. We took it for about 100km round trip today to settle everything and retorque- went around and tested a few fields and brought some equipment to the yard, and it road quite nice- even on these country roads and through the fields. We have one road down to an alkali field we call death valley (winding bumpy miserable coulee road) and it felt planted but not jarring at about 80 or 90km/hr. I do credit a lot of that to the shocks though.
Definitely stiffer than a 1500, but not quite 2500 if that helps.

The TTCs are now on my "get a job motivation list" along with real tires (Cooper Discoverer HT Plus) and the Propride hitch. Thanks for the feedback!

Cityspring in Edmonton had them to my door for 362 bucks shipping and tax included. Said they always have plenty in stock :)

Looks great! Did you go with the TTC-1223V's or just the TTC-1223's? I'm going to be adding those, some Bilstein 4600 HD's and an Air Lift 1000 kit onto the rear of my '13 Ram 1500. I plan on getting it done in the next month or two. Thanks for the pics!

I went with the ttc-1223. I thought about the 1223v but I am of the opinion- go big or go home. Hindsight being 20/20, the 1223v likely would have been enough :)

Wouldn't the 1210 fit right between the 1223 and the 1223V? (+25%)
I wish someone else had the 1223 with stiock shocks, to get an idea of the ride when empty.

Know how many times that philosophy (I use it too) has gotten me in trouble? lol

You have a '12 so the likelihood of your stock shocks even functioning at this point is slim. If you are gonna do this mod the shocks should be changed out. 20k or so is all the stockers are good for.

I thought I read somewhere that the 1223V's are in between the 1210 (25%) and the 1223 (50%). I believe I read the 1223V's are 30-35%.

Seriously?? I've never heard of this before. Well, they're going to have a bad year then, because it will likely tow as-is this summer. 20K is F'ing ridiculous.

After swapping my OEM out and seeing and feeling the size and quality difference, 20k sounds about right.

Swap is completely done now. My parts are complete :party36:

New rear coils TTC-1223, Rancho RS9000xl shocks, front Ranch Quicklift Loaded RS9000xl. And of course the mandatory chrome in channel window visors :)

Before and after

Not sure if this was discussed already, but do those springs offer any small lift in addition to the strength, or retain stock height when unloaded?

They are the same height as stock but you will notice after install they sit a bit higher. Its because they dont compress as much as the stock springs with the weight of the truck.

Ok, but probably only a minor amount? Was wondering if I could use these in place of a 1.5-2" coil spacer to achieve the same amount of lift, but I guess I'll have to go with the icon coils
