First trip with towing, MPG's.

Just made my first trip in my Ram since purchase and I'm elated and impressed with this truck. Did about 250 miles round trip. Trip "up north" was about 5000ft elevation gain. Trip back with tent trailer in tow was effortless albeit mostly down hill.

What impressed me most was, I couldn't even tell I had a trailer in tow for the most part, AND I averaged 21MPG!

My 2007 (other truck), would only average 17mpg no matter what I did.

Very happy new Ram owner.

what specs does your truck have? and miles? I'm at 3k miles and have the 3.21 8 speed Hemi.. i have to baby mine in the road to get above 20 and this is with no trailer.... although i do have 600 pounds in the bed?

I have the same. 5.7, 8 speed, 3.22, crew cab. I was very conscience of the throttle , yes.

I used to study the hypermiling and put some of that to use. I'm not crazy about it but most of them do work.

i wouldn't have thought 600 pounds would make much difference

any extra weight is just that much more the truck has to get moving. once up to speed it won't make much difference but it's still gonna use a little extra. even just having a full tank of gas is gonna use slightly more compared to half a tank

600lbs is about the weight of an ATV and i know with my ATV in the bed i lose about 5mpg
