Electric running boards for me. They give the best useable step and tuck up out of the way to provide a nice streamlined look when not in use.

I've got them on 2 of our vehicles now and looking to put a set on the wifes 4runner.

I prefer fixed boards. I live in the Northeast, we get our share of winter weather. I know people who have had trouble with them freezing open or closed, getting ice and snow stuck on them, and other issues related to winter weather. I would be much more interested in having them in an area where ice and snow are not a problem.

My 2021 2500 is the first I have owned with power boards. Would never go back to fixed. We get lots of snow and very cold, -55, weather but have never had any problems with these OEM boards. Wash weekly, spray joints and hinges with silicone lube monthly.

Agreed. I've seen people post claims about them freezing up but I've never actually seen that happen. We've owned three trucks with power steps and have never had an issue with them. Occasional trips through the touchless car wash when the weather permits probably helps keep the amount of crud build-up to a minimum. Our current truck has seen five Eastern WA/North ID winters and the steps are working just as well as when they were new. Now that we're in Florida I have to worry about them freezing up for sure lol.

100% true. No fixed steps are as useable as power steps. And not having fixed steps hanging off the sides is a better look IMHO.

My 2026 is my second truck with electric steps. My first pair were AMP and the second were the ram electric running boards. First they hang down a little more than fixed boards, which makes it easier for us oldsters to get in and out. Second I like the aesthetic of the boards neatly sucked up to the cab when driving. I know that if I bash them offroad they'll not last as long as fixed boards, but I've gotten alot of that kind of driving out of my system by now. I've had them though blizzards, ice storms, and other weather awfulness and I've not had one fail on me yet. I really like the AMP Vision boards, but they weren't out when I got my truck so I went OEM.

I'm team electric all the way.

Installed WolfBox electric running boards on my 24 Laramie. They operate smoothly and tuck away nicely.

I lived in Colorado and never had issue with them there, maybe in a more "wet" freezing climate they are an issue but I never once had my amps freeze up (and that's on 2 separate vehicles).

I've had both. At this stage, I prefer the OEM fixed.
