Flow master question.

I ordered a 40 series today from my local shop. Just gonna weld it in place of the factory. The question is should I remover resonators? Why or why not. I've got a 5.7 with 3.55 gears. I want louder pipes where I can here them rattle off from time to time.

And discuss.

Hey man, congrats on the exhaust.. I went with flow master 50 series hd with 2 1/2 inch out no resonators. I love it, has a great sound when I stomp on it, slight drone but no biggie I bought exhaust to hear it.. Very happy

I have the flowmaster super 44 I removed the resonaters and added 5inch tips I am pretty happy video does no justification for the actual sound

Resonators help with droan and quiet It down a tad. I'd try it with them in and if you want it slightly louder, delete the resonators. Or just watch these guys YouTube videos to compare.

I have a 40 series welded in but kept the stock resonators. It's pretty damn loud with the resonators still on there. I love the sound of it. Best sounding hemi ram I've heard and I'm not bias, I call it like it is. Had a borla on it before and it was too quiet.

+1 votes for try it with the resonators and see if you like it.
If yuo want more volume and exhaust crackle, take'em off.

Just got it on and drove it back to the airstrip. I would saw perfect for what I want. Rumble at idle, plenty of noise on take off and a good sound at 60 mph. Even happier with my Dodge now.

FM S40 with resonators. Sounds badass! It turns heads without trying and highway drone is non existent.

Are you guys losing any power with these? i've heard a lot of negatives about power loss.

I know i experienced it with my 5.4 on my F150. Was horrible.. LOVED the sound, hated the power loss. I've had a few buddies say the same about their 3rd gen Ram's..

To each their own. I can't stand the sound of straight through mufflers. Realistically we're talking plus or minus a couple of horsepower when it comes to mufflers. None of us will feel that. I've ran flowmaster 40 series mufflers on ten second mustangs and had no issues. Just buy a muffler for the sound you like. Personally I like chambered mufflers because I like a "smooth" exhaust note. But, like I said, we all like different ****, that's what makes modding vehicles fun.

I had Flowmasters on a low 9 second Mustang back in the early 90's. Picked up over 100 HP by swapping them out. Car eventually went 8.63 @ 165....and I haven't wasted money on a Flowmaster since.

Yep has baffles. Sounds great. No drag racing just driving to work or hunting. Plenty of power left that. And momma thinks it sounds sexy.

I cant feel any loss with my Super 44 but that means nothing because I havent ran a Magnaflow on the truck also. Eventually I want to do a true dual with bullet mufflers so its all irrelevant to me anyway. Imo mufflers are just sound unless you are cranking out some serious power, anything you put on can only be better than factory for the most part.

I have been told that removing the resonators removes back pressure that's needed for these engines to effectively siphon exhaust gases out and draw fresh air in. That's why the exhaust has a pulse width at the tail pipes. Without the right set up, you've lost power but are making more noise. I think I'll keep mine on till I figure it out more.
