Just curious, what do you do if your key fob battery dies, and your stranded somewhere. You can still unlock it with the hidden key, but how are you supposed to start the truck?

The button does not come off. If the battery in the key dies, you just use the key to press the start button.

you sure? A friend who transports cars took a snapchat of him popping off the button and there was a spot for a key, it was a dodge though not not a ram

Edit: a friend**

From the owners manual:

NOTE: In case the ignition switch does not change with the push of a button, the RKE transmitter (Key Fob) may have a low or dead battery. In this situation, a back up method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put the nose side (side opposite of the emergency key) of the Key Fob against the ENGINE START/STOP button and push to operate the ignition switch and with your foot applied on the brake pedal.

What happens if it says defective key or something. Mine took one too many trips through the washer. Curious

Then you are not a candidate for a key-less system. Seriously, that is two points of failure with one being your fault.
