That box kit will cover everything needed for the rear lift. I cant answer you on custom 2.5" rear shocks, you'll have to determine if you really need those or not.

Does bds/ fox make anything that’ll fit under a ram 1500 in the rear with a 6” lift? I just took a look at their 2.0 shocks and those are also only up to 1.5” or whatever it was.

Procomp 6” lift has a 4.5” tall rear coil spring spacer so you’ll want Fox part number 98224759 for rear shocks.

So to ensure I’m understanding, my truck currently achieves 6” of lift in the rear by having a 4.5” spacer then a 1.5” raise from the shock/ strut? (I’m just now putting all together In my mind haha)

For sure! I’ll have to ask the shop then when I go in for the front coilovers what the best course of action will be then.

The 6” kit only refers to the front height not the rear, on any brand kit. Your rear lift is only 4.5”, BDS has the option of 3” rear lift or 5” rear lift with their 6” kits. They do this because some trucks sit higher in the rear than others, or lower than others so this way you can raise the front 6”, then sorta “dial it in” for the rear lift height to get a “close” to level ride height.

For instance let’s say your rear stock height was 2” higher than front, so you raise the front 6” and raise the rear 4.5”, so 4.5” + 2” original =6.5”. So after the lift the rear is only .5” taller than the front, not 2” like stock nosedive.

The fox shocks that BDS uses for their kit are as follows:

3” rear kit is p/n 98224758
5” rear kit is p/n 98224759

That 5” shock will work with your current procomp rear 4.5” spacer as well in case you just want to update the shocks to match the front for now.

Maybe ask that shop for a quote for just the front and rear fox only as well.

When you say the 5” shock will work with my 4.5” spacer, do you mean the 5” rear kit shock with part number
982-24-759? Also I’m having trouble seeing any listings for either of those parts numbers You just listed.

So does that mean the piggyback 2.5” thick shocks that fox sells (part number 883-24-029) will fit with my 4.5” spacer?

And if I remove that spacer and replace it with the 5” coil kit 022509, how does that differ from my current setup?

That’s how the coilovers used to be. The part number is a BDS part number you’d have to call Fox and give them the part number but I feel the information they’ll provide is what you’ll find on BDS’ website. It’s a lot to take in and a lot of reading to understand. You’d think their would be more info on the Rams suspension upgrades

No regular length will not fit.

Different Lift companies use different methods to get the height. your pro comp kit uses a 4.5" spacer and re uses your oem coil spring to lift the rear. My Zone lift uses a longer replacement coil with no spacers in the rear. Zone and BDS use virtually the same kits.
So your lift uses an oem spring with a 4.5" block under it and I use a spring that is 5" longer than the oem spring it replaced. I know its a lot to take in and figure out. But with the right know how most lift kits can be interchanged to use the best engineering from multiple companies. Like I said a lot of reading.

@Quick_Shifter OHHHH ok thank you! That explains a lot. I was very confused all day. So I didn’t realize the spring was longer. I thought 5” spring/coil meant it’s diameter. I see how that compares to my 4.5” spacer now. Thank you!

But aren’t the struts (compression piston things) at an angle for the rear?

Like I mentioned before the BDS kits were made by fox for the BDS kits only. They are not sku's on fox's website. Only recently did the front coil overs for the lift kits get listed on fox's website. Im sure the shop that you're going to has a dealer website that lists all the part numbers but in house they don't keep the public in the loop. We can find stuff by digging but nothing is readily available.

Its appears that way to the public eye. But its not that they don't want to make money, They probably have a great dealer website to order from and keep that site up to date. Most companies don't want to sell to the public because they're only buying product every now and then or once every 5 years and then after they buy it they complain. So by Fox selling through distribution the end user will complain to the dealer they bought it from and not to them. The dealer will also handle warranty issues and everything that actually requires dealing with the cry babies

easiest way to explain your angle theory is if I stand at the bottom of a staircase that has 4 steps and you stand at the top step and we hold a 2x4 that is cut to length that we can just hold.. now take the same 2x4 and stand top and bottom of a staircase with 12 steps, you think that 2x4 will reach both of us?
