Just was wondering if I should continue to buy the fram fe2 oil filter, seems to have some quality control issues.

Hard to say anymore - these corporations have consolidated so badly. Until we have more evidence than a single cut open, I plan to continue using based on the Project Farm actual oil test data.
Otherwise, it requires constant cut-opens of every current high quality filter brand to keep up with their manufacturing and design quality. These corporations change hands and cheapen filters without notice. Who knows if this filter sat on the shelf for a year and started rusting? It's a sample size of exactly one.
