Just wanted to get the groups input on the swap. I like the idea of a 17" wheel if nothing more than to be able to spend less when I need tires, but I'm also not a huge fan of chrome either. For reference, these are the Mojave's:

Ideally I would get them in a heart beat if I could find them in an 18", but then again, tires aren't as cheap. I'm thinking these 17's with maybe a 285/75/17...thoughts?

I have 20" chrome clads now but looking at getting some kind of black 18 or 20 though. Don't think I would go down to a 17 inch rims

I think it's a fine idea. I was planning on doing something very similar.

also took my 20's off and put 17's on. i like the look of a bigger tire. not a bigger rim.

donnt care much for the style of those rims though. but i do like black ones.

I dig these wheels on anything. Check out the AEV Saverge, very similar but gives some depth, while not all their wheels come 5x139 some do. Just fuel for thought.

I have a used set of 285/75/17, Toyo AT I believe, if you want to try it out before sinking a ton of money into it.

i personally don't like the look of 17's on rams....too small imo. I can see the interest in cheaper tires though

I would be willing to stay with 20's, but I really don't want the chrome...has anyone had any luck in powdercoating the chrome clads? Any prep needed beforehand?

I've had good luck using Plasti-dip. And it's not permanent in case you want to sell the Chrome to fund the aftermarket wheels.
