Sup guys,

What creative way should I seal this crazy gap. Beyond the plastic it looks like it’s about 3/4” gap on both sides at the top and 1/2” the rest of the way down.

See some different weather stripping kits But I’m more worried about the top for rain. Just slapped a cheap tonneau cover on for now as my cap is 12 weeks out.

Have you had the dealer look at it, that looks like its not installed properly or is in need of adjustment...

It’s same on both sides. Gate closes and opens fine. Idk didn’t think it’s messed up just trying to figure out best way to go about sealing it all up

Can’t tell from the pics, but is the tailgate flush with the side panels when closed?

What was the kit you ordered?

all pretty much same thing jsut differing brands.

ESI
Truxedo Truxseal
etx

google fu
tailgate seal

i like ESI for the sticky stuff.

clean truck, wipe down area where it will be stuck on with to get good adhesion
take truck down dusty road and see where dust came in and adjust seals

repeeat until sealed tight.

then water ttest the seals and start process all over again.

eventually, will end up with tight seal across the thing.

another way to go is with the complte bedrug kit, closes the gaap betwen teh tailgate and truck bed along the bottom aith closed cell foam and looks nice too.

I got the ESI Ultimate Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal 10ft for use with Truck Caps and Tonneau Covers from Amazon and installed it yesterday. It rained today and bed was dry!

I like the curve you did at the top. The seal I had was not pliable enough to make that bend.

Trying to figure out positioning of the same seal you have in your pic. Directions kind of suck and not any videos for Rams that I could find. Any tips or advice? Did to use the 14" wide piece for the curve at the top? Not sure of the year of your truck but mine is a 2025 and looks similar in tailgate setup. Thanks

Guess I am lucky. I get very little water intrusion, but I do have a Full Mopar Tonneau cover and the back end goes over the tailgate. I get a lil water from the gate area but not a lot at all. I only get water entry from sides or front if I do high pressure spray directly up at the edges, so does well even in monster rain storm as water not normally splash that way. Guess I could seal the back gate a lil, may need to look into suggestions here just for the gate.

ADDED: If I have to move anything big, got my stock trailer. To remove the cover to get stuff is a 2 person job. Cover wide, unwieldy, not happy but requires 2 people to put on/take off and just me here. SO I use my stock trailer to get any big items.

i am now 81, 7 years ago, i used to install & remove my Tonneau by myself.
I would not even think about doing that now.

On the Front Panel of the bed, there is a rubber piece that fits between the Bed & Cover, that needs some Adhesive, because water intrusion is likely.

Down here in Southern California, heavy rains are few & far between, but next month, i will be driving back East to Connecticut & heavy rain is common

The best seal for your tail gate to the truck bed is by far Rok Block. It covers the entire gap and makes cleaning out the bed a breeze. I posted about this a while back. Mind The Gap. This is how it looks installed. As for the top and side I have not fond anything that keeps out the gravel road dust.
