The Carli version notes, "Power Wagons may require modification to the Diff Guard or Lower Diff Housing." Anyone care to comment on what needs modification on the PW?

Not sure. I didn't modify anything on my '15.

*edit* I looked into this and found nothing. My only guess is maybe a quick touchup with a grinder on either the lower axle housing or diff guard if the bolt holes don't line up properly.

As already said above, if you actually wheel your truck forget the PML cover. A rock will punch a hole right through that cast aluminum cover.

I run a stock front cover with a Carli front diff guard. The Carli diff guard would have prevented your cover peel issue.

FWIW, I had ordered a AEV rear diff cover for my truck a few years ago. It arrived with the powder coat chipped in a few places from the drain plug that was thrown in the box with the cover banging around during transit and chipping the powder coat. I sent it back as I wasn't impressed. Plus the cover was heavy as hell.

Yea, after your guys' input, I emailed PML asking to cancel and ordered a new OEM cover as well as a carli guard. Thanks for the input.

I have a 18 no modification needed for me.

Might as well clean the magnets and install a rare earth magnet in there for preventative maintenance while you’re in there.

Got a link of what I should put in there? Do you just place it in there?

Yup, you just put them in the housing where they won’t come into contact with anything. If memory serves is on the bottom near the front, @Maligator can confirm. These are the ones I have.

Man that sounds kind of scary, lol. Maybe it's just me, but I feel the force of the oil swirling around in there would move the magnet free. Thanks a ton.

Oh trust me, these magnets won’t move lol they’re shipped with a piece of plastic to separate them for a reason. Here’s an idea of how strong they are: make sure your fingers aren’t wrapped underneath them when you’re putting them in place hahaha

Looks like it will collect mud, how open is it?
Would you rather it collect mud? Or lose all your diff fluid?

But to answer your question.. not really. I just took mine in the mud this weekend.

If you take your truck in mud. You should immediately wash it when you get home anyway.

There’s plenty of nooks and crannies under our truck that collect mud. If you wheel in muddy conditions you should be rinsing the truck off when done so just hit the Carli guard with your hose to rinse it out.

this^^^^

of course its gonna collect mud...just like every other nook and crannie under the truck. A simple spray with a hose or power washer will fix that issue.

After rereading my post to DodgeDude I think my response reads a rather douche bag like and I didn't actually answer your question. So let me answer by saying it's open enough to rinse out any mud if you spray it directly with a hose. I've had mine on for several years and it's all good under there.
