I bought a 2018 rebel to replace my 16 ecodisel that was lemon lawed. Max fuel mileage I am getting is between 12.4 and 16 even burning high test. I like the truck but dang it is way low for fuel mileage it has 6200 miles on it is it a break in problem that will go away? The truck is very tourqey and it down shifts when you slow down noticeably. I noticed that some times at 65 to 70 it is still in 7'th gear and doesn't seem to shift even on flat level ground .

Running hi-test - I'm guessing that's premium? - isn't going to help mileage, and may even hurt it. The manual calls for mid-grade - 89 octane. I run mine on regular 87, and MPG seems about the same.

I've never bought a new one, but from what I've read here, the MPG should go up after some break-in time, but I'm not sure how much.

I upgraded to a 19 from a 17 eco. For the 10 Hemi I had it got 12 in the city and 15 highway. I’m getting an average of 17 in mine now but it has the etorque system. I would give it a couple thousand miles and switch back over to mid or low grade like the previous comment bc that could be affecting your shift points. It also depends on how heavy your foot is but for a 4wd gas monster it’s not going to be great. One thing you could do is put a tuner on it to edit the shift points but I wouldn’t do too much as you are still in factory warranty.

With the bigger tires, set up, different suspension, shift points for the "Rebel", etc etc U R not gonna get the mileage on the stock trucks. MY 19 gets between 13-19 in town and up to 22 on road. But it is stock 18" tires, etc, none of the extra tranny setup, engine set up, lift, etc that U get with buying the Rebel Package. IMHO...

And there is a break in period, but it sure as heck is not 6200 miles. Most break ins were 500 miles. You would have to look at yer manual. And U R spoiled by the ED ref mileage as compared to a Hemi. I know, as I went from a MY 15 ED to MY 19 Hemi...Again, all IMHO...
