I am new to this forum..my 2020 Ram CTD died on the freeway leaving me in the middle of the freeway….the dealer has diagnosed it with the “Recall” problem of the failing fuel pump…it has been there 4 weeks and no ETA on the pump…does anyone know if it will be replaced with the reliable CP3? The dealer has no idea what they will be installing.

Thanks for any help you can give me…

Does anyone know anything about this conversion?
My 2020 was at the dealer for 45 days with a failed high pressure fuel pump and no parts available…a pump came in but the dealer can’t give me a part number or explanation on what they installed…told me I would have to wait for the recall “fix” notice and bring the truck back in so they can inspect if I got the upgraded CP3 or if they would have to install the new Pump that Ram says is the fix for the recall. Very disappointed in Ram Care and dealer customer service…no one has any answers….I don’t feel comfortable driving it on a long trip…may lemon law it and get a Ford or Chevy

That's my thoughts, I don't want to break down on a trip and be down far from home, some are reporting getting reimbursed for this conversion.

FYI Ford is still using the CP4, and, unlike the Cummins, you can't fit a CP3 in the valley where it mounts, so you are really stuck. S&S does have a "disaster prevention kit" that is supposed to reroute the debris from a failure, in hopes of preserving rails, injectors, etc, downstream from the CP4.

Ford, chevy and ram all used the cp4 pump. This issue is all across the board but ram is one of the only that did a recall. The reason it taking forever is they just cant build pumps fast enough for all the new trucks and ones broken down. 2022 they switched back to the cp3.

Ram used the CP4 for 2019 and 2020, then switched to the "new" CP3 for 2021. GM went Denso in 2017(?) with the L5P.

I've heard of some folks getting reimbursed for retrofitting out of pocket, but talk to your dealer. My local dealer where I picked up my '22 flat out asked me how high I was gonna lift so they could try to sell me the right warranty and then the finance guy trying to beat my financing came out and said you know it's a good thing they went back to the CP3, but not all all dealers are on par.
