I have a 07 dodge ram 1500 3.7 quad cab. truck has been having intermittent crank no start issues for several months and finally failed to start at all. I just replaced the the pump about 2 years ago and wasn't suspecting the pump to fail that soon. i heard the pump start with key on but no pressure at the rail, so dropped the tank and removed the pump. fuel in the cup looked clean but as i turned the pump upside down i discovered fuel in the output of the pump was coal black. cleaned all that fuel out and reinstalled the pump, connected the fuel line and electrical line and the truck started right up. What the heck. What is this black fuel about?

Was it just black gas or did it look like it was gas full of dirt and junk? Might’ve just got a bunch of dirt and junk in the tank somehow and overtime got sucked in and clogged up the system
