I need to change my 23 gallon tank to the 33 gallon tank on my 2019 Ram 1500 Longhorn. Any problems with fit? The dealership slipped it by me on delivery and is telling me it may not be possible to change

I'd be interested to hear what you find out. Do the new rams come standard with a 23 or 26 gallon? I would like a 33 gallon if the switch was an easy one.

They come with a 23 or 26 gallon standard. Don't know why. The 33 gallon is an option apparently about $450. My dealer says they won't make the swap for some reason. I am still working on it.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What Charles said. I have 26, 23 was listed as standard, but 26 installed as an "option"...

and the gas gauge still not calibrated correctly. Think all the ECU's programmed way before thrown into a truck on the assembly line, but IMHO....

I just got word that I would have to buy the 33 gal take for about $650, a sending unit for about $250 and then $500 or so in labor. I guess I will just buy a couple of 5 gal cans next time I drive across Canada.

thanks for the info, I guess I'll just keep my 23 or 26 gallon tank as well

From what I see you need the tank
Fuel tube clip x 2 # 68166790AA
Vent hose #68312139AB
Fuel return hose #68312140AC
Fuel tank strap #52030458AB

The rest appear to be reused from your 26 gallon tank such as one strap, pump and some hose clips. Total cost from here is $553.72

Only I'd get the 33 gal strap to be safe, otherwise should all by the same

Plus the $650 for the tank (new from the dealer)
No. It's about $570 total including the tank. Dropping an empty tank, swapping over the reused parts and putting back in is a easy job to do. Dodge would have to reprogram your ecm so the truck recognizes the new tank size/ makes your Guage read correctly.

that's like haven to pee a lot except you have to gas up a lot that's becomes a pain for trips the range is short. I think the gas tank size depends on the package model you ordered with the truck. Me I have the 33 gallon tank and wish it could be larger :banana-mario:

After going through about 10 trucks at the dealer, they wore me down. I missed the fuel tank size and the rear end (got the 3.92). Don’t haul but love the truck for comfort on long trips. Oh well, since I don’t use the truck for business, the loss in mileage will hurt but not to the point I will buy another truck really soon.

Lot of money for ten more gallons that a person doesn't need that often(unless you tow a lot). Five gallon cans are really inexpensive.

Anyone change from 23/26 gallon tank to the 33 gallon tank yet?
