Stellantis has apparently started a new company, Mobilisights https://www.mobilisights.com/, specifically to process and sell all of the data they collect from our vehicles. The ability to request to opt out of the sale of collected data is found by clicking on the Privacy Policy link at the very bottom of that home page, which links to FCA/Chrysler US’ Privacy Policy https://www.chrysler.com/crossbrand_us/privacy.html The opt out link is buried in section 9, Rights and Choices, under the paragraph header of Covered Data. The direct link to the request form is here

https://privacyportal.onetrust.com/...58479fce/7d68420a-1005-4f26-80ae-e115247ecb2d

They require a person to verify their email by responding to an email sent by the corporation within 30 days of making the request before they will even consider granting the opt out. I filled in their form and sent it this morning and have yet to receive the verification email, which I hope arrives within 30 days. *insert string of rather blue invective regarding greedy Ferengi type @$$hats*

Note to mods: not really sure if this is the correct section of the forum, but if this doesn’t belong here, please feel free to move it to the correct section or let me know what the correct section is and I’ll gladly repost this there. Also, thanks for running a very informative site!

This is crap but I gotta say, they have nothing on Facebook, cell phone carriers, google, TV manufacturers, etc. thanks for making me go outside in the 25 degree weather to get my VIN in my bathrobe. Appreciate that.

The last I looked into this in 2019 if you Opt out you give up the use of the Uconnect features along with it. Features that I commonly use. I'll have to dig into your above links and see if that's still the case because I'm not willing to give those up.

You’re all welcome. I admit that it royally p*ssed me off that they went so far as to make a separate company just to take advantage of all of the data they mine from our vehicles and wanted to get the word out as to how to go about opting out. As for what the consequences of opting out might be, I have no idea.

Still waiting for that verification email myself.

And that is one of the reasons why I don’t use social media and Siri was never set up on my iPhone, which has very few apps and all have limited access (only the Smart 911, earthquake and tsunami warning apps have access to location data). As for “smart” appliances, including TVs, I don’t have any and don’t plan to get any.

this forum is one of the better ones for tracking/ and cross site tracking, fingerprinting etc (only blocking 3 on my end) ...
and cloudfare cookies

but unless your doing other privacy methods your IP is still visible along with your email. Once this is all arregated together when companies buy other multiple companies telemtry, they then have a pretty good idea who you are. utilize burner emails to start among other privacy practices

If you carry an insurance card in your wallet, it might have VIN on it. I know mine does.

I would bet that your trip outside was a quick one......lol

Given how many times the USAF and US government has allowed data breeches with my info, I no longer have any hope that my data is out there

However I still try and I appreciate the link supply. I had heard about Ford doing this (it is right in the owners manual) but was waiting for the shoe to drop.

Don't forget to check your SPAM folder for the reply.

Cheers

No worries about the spam folder, I always go over that thoroughly several times a day (and still haven’t received the verification email). Believe me, I’m right there with you about the data breaches. I’m retired Army and between all of their breaches and the breaches of the VA’s systems, pretty much ALL of my data is out there for all and sundry to access on the dark web and I’m constantly getting alerts from my credit monitoring service that my data has been found on the dark web. I admit to being so “privacy conscious” as much out of pure cussed stubbornness just because it p*sses me off how the greedy corporate @$$hats take everyone for everything they can get and then screw up on the security so the lazy criminals in this world can take their turn at raiding our pockets. And that got a bit ranty…pardon.

As far as extra security measures, I always manually go in and clear cookies and database files from my browser’s files after every session on the internets. Also, my ISP provides dynamic IP access so that the IP address changes frequently and I’ve yet to have my “location” get within 100 miles of where I actually live. Though, once the DSL out here goes the way of the Dodo, I’ll have to sign up for a VPN service in order to thumb my nose at the @$$hats.

You can get extensions for many browsers that automatically delete cookies when you close the tab/browser, like "cookie auto delete".

Still waiting on the email confirmation. Not in the spam folder either.
