Gap Guards?

Anyone buy or create their own gap guards? Stumbled upon these while searching for other stuff. Wondering if there is an advantage to them, but mostly what materials, so I can source my own stuff and create it as opposed to the $90 price tag everywhere for four pieces.

I made some for my MegaCab and will do the same thing for the CC.

I did it to keep crap from flying off the wheels to the underside of the truck.

Ended up finding factory rear wheel well splash shields. Odd how they offer them as a "accessory" but not as a standard. For $100 bucks that worth it.
