If you have time and patience, and a router, you could do slatwall on the cheap with that plywood. Might save some coin there.
I have the luxury of having the cheapest supplier of slatwall in the nation, that I could find, about 45 minutes from me. That means no freight costs to pay for and about $50 per 4x8 sheet, with painted finish including tax. That's said, while it may be a plausible idea on a smaller scale, I think you're nuts if you think the cost vs. time ratio is beneficial there for me to evenly make channels on 30 panels every three inches lol. I like the inginuity though! Lol

Ordered epoxy today for the garage floor from https://www.epoxy-coat.com/product/metallic-full/

Went with the metallic using a dark gray primer, two full white "seashell" kits and one half kit of dark gray "manatee" to do a marble type swirl accent and 3 gallons of polyurethane to final coat for UV ambering prevention. Shipped with tools and two sets of shoe spikes for $1,500. Should be here next week. Hopefully I can have it all prepped this weekend so that it can dry for coating the following weekend.

Well I dunno how many slats you are after, but you can jig it in 10 minutes, hold your beer in 1 hand and go into auto-drive. But that does sound like a good price per sheet, especially painted.

Ya know what, making a jig didn't even cross my mind. I think it would take awhile to make a full sheet jig to make sure everything was spaced evenly and able to stack appropriately, but it would be quick after that. I'd consider it if I was going for a nice wood finish like a stained maple since those slatwall pieces are pretty pricey, but I actually want the plain white to brighten everything up.

Oh and FYI, if anyone is interested in the slatwall, its from storesupplywarehouse.com and is rated at 50lbs of holding strength.

Menards does have some for $30/sheet but it's rated at half the strength, which doesn't seem like much to me for the heavier garage stuff like ladders and 10ft truck ramps.

how big of an area are you covering? I'd love to epoxy my floor. i'm about 800 sq ft though. AND I'd have to rent a pod to store my crap in until the floor was cleaned, prepped, painted and cured.

There is a company in town here that applies some type of polyurethane coating (something like Linex but for floors) that he claims was in several shops around here and is way more durable than epoxy. It sounded like good stuff but expensive, my 24'x24' garage was around $3500 to do and that was a few years ago. My floor is starting to look trashy so I need to look into some sort of floor coating myself that will hold up to the abuse.

that's always the catch-22. Durable without taking out a second mortgage to pay for it, or go cheap and end up redoing it a few yrs down the road.

I am in the same boat as you. If I do it I only want to move all my crap out once and never again.

I should have done it when I built it but money was tighter back then.

One thing I haven't seen addressed in this otherwise excellent thread is drainage...with that reverse sloped driveway, might water pool by your doors or do you think the concrete sub did the job right and put in a lateral slope, too?

I know our place in Montana had a detached garage (like many in the Treasure State) and it even faced north, so we always had a few ice patches during winter. Thankfully there was no slope and I know the STL doesn't get Big Sky Country snow, but it could be a concern.

Just looking out for your investment, j..it'd be sad to see water getting into that Ram palace you're building!!

600 sqft 3 car garage. That's why I had the movers put everything in basement. Otherwise I knew the floor would never get done.:D

There are some other companies that have 'military grade' epoxy kits. From what I gathered, it's typically a thicker layering and poly on top, which translates to more money. The quotes I was getting to have the floor done we're around $8-10 per sqft for nothing too fancy or thick.

I looked into the box store epoxy kits pretty hard and determined that it just wasn't worth it. Kind of a "you get what you pay for" deal. Even done well, a lot only last 5 years and this one is a 20 year prorated warranty. Another problem with the box kit is blending colors in a big area, which I have seen first hand issues of this application issue. Meaning, if you do three kislts in your garage of gray, there's a noticeable pigment variation between the three sections.

J, just sharing a thought. My floor needs to be repainted. Done in 2005. You know, there are many options. I am considering interlocking non adhesive garage floor tile. There are several to choose from. Focusing on the larger square size, rated for floor jacks, lifts and chemical. If I do just the floor area with out removing my shelving, the 3 car area will run me about $1600. Of course more than a liquid finish but,,,,realy nice benefits.

I think to do it now, it's about $3k. I'm not sure about fancy marble swirl looks when you have to work on the truck and lose a screw on the ground.

This was actually my first concern walking up to the house for the first time :). There is a dip about a foot and a half in front the the garage that slopes back up to shed water off to the sides. Theres also a slight eave over the front of the garage. Below is an old pic while they were building. That said, if the concrete guy would ever call me back to put a sidewalk from the driveway to the patio, I plan on talking to him about buried drainage from the gutters to keep everything away from the foundation. Yup, that is definitely another option that I looked into, but I decided to go the epoxy route for a few reasons. Cost is a little cheaper if you compare to high quality tiles, liquids getting in-between the tiles/being able to spray down the garage floor, and wanting something a little more fancy pants looking. Don't get me wrong, the tiles have their benefits such as ease of installation, replacement of damaged tiles or changing design, and being able to take it with you when you move. In the end, I felt like I was leaning more towards epoxy. Ask me which way I'd lean once I'm done with all the elbow grease lol

Edit: The "garage tile" material is the new rubber/plastic blend that lays flat, won't slip and last for years.

Haha, I hear ya, one of the reasons why I wanted to go with a more white base, plus more light reflection.
