Does it hurt to go back and forth between 87 and 89 grade? I am pulling a camper back to Iowa from Florida. Been using 87 while down here. 2013 5.7 hemi.

Nope, 89 is what the Hemi is designed to run on (optimized spark table) running 87 might lead to alittle pinging which the pcm will adjust by removing some timing, power loss prob not noticeable if any.

No point in mixing it either, just run it straight or don’t bother. 87 and 89 is very little difference to negate the cost difference per gallon. You would be better off running 93 for an actual difference which is overkill on a stock ram, but put a tune in it and run 93 or just run 87 for the life of the truck.

If you are towing I would recommend 89 as I believe your manual will state the same. For daily driver 87 is fine.

Yeah I think I would go with the 89 while you are pulling the camper. What part of Iowa? I was born & raised in the southeast corner. Donnellson... close to Keokuk & Fort Madison.
