There is a warranty that will run out in two years from today. It is only for the 4th generation rams. It is the rear gasoline strap mount that rots away causing the strap to slip and the tank to drop.
So if you have a 4th generation ram, get under the truck and see if yours needs to be replaced. Don't wait like I did cause nobody bothered to post this problem.

I recall a rather complete discussion about the gas tank straps.
It was complete with several images & ideas.

Unfortunately, there was a new member here on the forum, that was misinformed, they took their misinformation & left

I'm updating this post as in spite of how rust free /clean mine is underneath it needs the gas tank front strap mount replaced or Repaired.
I would encourage ALL to check their mounts regardless of where you live. The design they used is extremely poor at best and traps debris / dirt which when wet stays that way for awhile due to being almost completely enclosed.
I would also strongly encourage drilling drain holes as others have suggested or possibly opening the bottom of the mount up completely. Failure to do so will eventually rot the frame itself.

For anyone needing the info on the 12 year extended warranty
12 YEAR tank mount WARRANTY
May have to turn of your ad blocker and dig around a bit but the bulletin should be there without downloading anything else.

I'm debating on doing it myself or letting the dealership monkeys Screw it up :shakehead::Stupid Me:

Just got a call from my dealer about this exact issue. I've got it in for 60,000 miles servicing and they need to replace mine. However they don't have one on hand but hope to get it by tomorrow.

So my one day servicing is turning into at least two, maybe three.

But it's better than having my gas tank fall off while driving and the problems THAT could cause.

Funny, I do not recall getting such a mesaage and I've owned this truck for five years.

I wonder what would have happened if mine had fallen off while I was srining?
Don't know what to tell you, but there it is in black and white. Go to the mopar site and check for recalls / customer notices. It's not under recall, but a different heading.

Have your VIN handy and Check the NTSB “Recall” site/list. Also, Update your Ownership/Address information with the OEM.

It’s the Front-strap mounting-bracket …….on SOME trucks….and that pic has (apparently been re-purposed from one red-highlighting the frame dampeners…not the front tank strap Mounting-Bracket.)
The recall doesn’t say it, but I suspect a combination of untreated / incompatible or inappropriate alloy or treatment was used to assemble that bracket. I’m guessing, of course.
I saw this recall on my 2012 Ram 1500 and it was always just fine. Same on my present 2015.
Here’s the notice:

Which "certain 2009 - 2018 Ram 1500 Truck vehicles" are they talking about?

Have you ever heard the phrase “There are no stupid questions”…?

It’s not true.

:jester:

(It’s the ones that …“experience a noise coming from the Fuel Tank area or a state inspection technician stated the front fuel tank strap is detached or the strap mounting bracket is excessively corroded.”)
