Hello. For about a year I was going crazy tring to figure out a strange problem where if I hit a bump in my 2014 1500 Hemi the engine would die. It seemed to happen more frequently in hotter weather. No codes. I checked as many electrical connections as possible, replace the mass air flow sensor and crankshaft sensor but didn't help. So I needed new struts anyway so I replaced those and problem solved. Obviously that wasn't the root of the problem but smoothing out the bumps stopped the bad connection from happening I guess.
(2) Another issue where the truck would go into limp mode (wouldn't go over 9 mph), ran rough and several warning lights would come on. Usually happened soon after I started it and drove a short distance. I suspected it may have been the fuel cap because it seemed to happen within a day or so after I filled up. I bought a generic cheap cap which seemed to help some but not totally. Also at this time I discovered that the front gas tank strap had broken off. I got that fixed (SEE BELOW). Also I bought an OEM Mopar gas cap and the problem disappeared so I'm not sure if stabilizing the random and/or the new gas cap solved the problem.
GAS TANK STRAP (BRACKET):
Chrysler realized early on that this was a design flaw where one end would rust and break off so they issued a special 12 year warranty, unlimited mileage. THIS IS NOT A RECALL, SAFETY OR OTHERWISE. When I got it fixed there was no charge. I have attached the warranty letter.
