My SSV gets lower mileage and seems to have reduced performance on regular regardless of if I'm towing, but mid and premium are the same. I run all three now and then based on pricing and availability from Costco, Co-Op, and Shell.

I get to drive a Big Horn and Sport now and then, and they both run the same regardless of what gets put in.

Well, One of the next outings will see how everything rolls. I do like my lil' Ram. I did just drop some cashola on a new Carven Comp muffler. Going to keep the stock tips, I figure the Carven muffler itself will give it away as it is....LOL.

Should free up a couple of ponies and see if it helps a bit.

Is the SSV the Special Service Vehicle? Like what LE or Park & Recs drives?

You are correct. An interesting mix of options, but noting engine wise should make a difference.

I tend to run 91 when towing. Mostly because it's very hilly here and longer pulls up hill at higher rpms can and will lead to knock in certain situations. You will not see a performance gain, but it'll help you from seeing a performance loss. Higher octane just means the fuel combusts at a higher temperature, which reduces the likelihood of pre-detonation from higher cylinder temps. Longer runs at a higher rpm's will raise cylinder temps.

There is no difference in energy content between all grades of fuel.

On my earlier post id stated that I had run nothing but 93 for 1 1/2 years and just recently switched to 89. I really liked the 89 but today did my first fill with non ethanol 89. Wow, that's the way to go if you can find it.

I havent tried non-e gas yet. it it’s availble 30 seconds from my house. It’s just so expensive. Maybe I’ll run a tank and see what she does.

“If you can find it” is the keyword. It’s a 35 mile ride for me to get 87 non ethanol gas.
I have used it and loved it. That tank of gas got me a steady 18 mpg according to the lieometer. Keep in mind it’s a 2500 4x4 C/C.
I can only imagine what the fuel mileage would be on 90-93 oct pure gas... dreaming...

Around here the Indy bp stations have the option for non ethanol mid grade, chain run stores are all ethaonlated. All the shell stations have a non ethanol pump set aside from all the other pumps, I've never checked it out to see if was 89 or 93.

I would have thought that Texas of all places would have the most pure gas available.

These gas prices are all over the place. Here in NC where I live regular is $2.65 and the non ethanol 89 is $3.05.

In NC as well. I can only find 87 non-ethanol around me at QT. It's the same price as 91 with ethanol.

Wish I could buy gas as cheap as you guys south of the boarder. I'm currently paying 1.43 per litre for 89 octane.
if you do the math it's 4 times this amount for a gallon here. It's roughly $5.72 a gallon Canadian dollars. Converted to US dollars would be $4.34 a gallon for 89 octane. When I see that you pay $3.00 plus I think man I wish it was that price here.

Yeah, depending on which natural disaster or emergency they deem to jack prices on the gasoline....or holiday to increase prices, it's kind of a crap shoot...
