Like my friend the retired auto engineer taught me:

Accountants say MCM= Material Cost Management.

Engineers say: MCM= Make Customers Mad.

It's when the Accountants are allowed to run the company that we have these product problems, mostly. And they're allowed to for the quickest buck for the current quarter for the biggest executive bonuses. I lived it.

Bearings, there isn't a gear box, just a shaft with 2 bearings spinning at 7500 rpms with a small reservoir of oil on one end and impeller at the other end..

I also had an outdrive (mercruiser) fail with Amsoil marine gear lube in it - I actually questioned the gear lube when I put it in, it just didn't feel right. Outdrive failed within a couple of days of light driving. Maybe coincidence, who know.
I do know, that I never see metal flakes on the drain magnet using Redline and just a small amount using Mercruiser gear lube.

FWIW, I've ran both Redline and Amsoil SG in my truck. The only real data I have is with Amsoil SG. I towed my camper up the Ike Gauntlet with SG in the diff, and when we got to the top I pulled the truck over to let things cool down. I immediately grabbed my thermal temp gun and shot it at the rear diff and it read 155*F. I was pretty impressed and have ran SG since.
