Question for the oil guru's.If you had a choice between Amsoil 75W-110 severe duty and Redline 75W-110 ,which one would you lean towards.
I have to order either one in,and they're both roughly the same cost. Before everybody gets up in arms, this is for a ZF equipped Challenger, which calls for 75W-90,but i won't go that light, the lightest i'll stick in it is 75W-110.
Thanks guys
Rick

I use Amsoil only because there is a Kubota tractor dealer near me that stocks it so I can get it without paying shipping. Both are good products and will give excellent results.

I've never had amsoil work for me in any situation or vehicle. Not certain why, just no luck with the product. Many swear by it just not me.

So, I'd go redline

I used redline gear oil (75/140) on my last ram and it worked great and it was hardly any more expensive than the full syn stuff from Canadian tire or napa so I will continue to do so in the future. hope this helps! :favorites13:

Like I did with all my customers - question back to you: what's your application? What do you plan to do with the machine? Duty cycle? Environment? etc.

if'n yer goin' racing, Red Line

street use only, Amsoil

DILLIGAF. Which Amsoil do you run? I was running the Signature Series but this past oil change I switched to the XL Boosted series to try and save a few dollars since everything is so damn expensive right now. Looks like the only difference is the signature series may have a little more of an additive package because I believe you could leave it in for 20k or a year where the XL is 12k or a year. I change my oil every 6 months, and I am usually between 6-7k at that point.

The only gear oils that do not come pre-additized with limited slip friction modifiers are Mobil Delvac 1 Gear Oil, Red Line NS Gear Oil, and Mopar 75W-85 gear oil.

All the rest, including Amsoil, come pre-additized. I wrote Amsoil about this when I changed gear oil last year. I had the opposite issue - I didn't want LS additive because I have the HD AAM Trac-Rite Torsen self-locking differential w/o clutch discs. LS additive delays engagement when activated.

Since LS has become so popular over the decades, most mfg.'s decided to add it as a standard additive. Makes blending and inventory simpler for them.

Just a note that for 2019+ the 12" AAM axle has clutches and requires the friction modifier.

Boooooo!

I can't believe they dropped the Trac-Rite Torsen differential. My personal belief is this was FCA cost-cutting the original Ram design.

Like my friend the retired auto engineer taught me:

Accountants say MCM= Material Cost Management.

Engineers say: MCM= Make Customers Mad.
