Ive seen some generic OE Ram fender flares on ebay for real cheap. Only issue is that they do not come with the black rubber gasket that goes around the edge of the fender flare to truck fender area.

Anyone in the know what sort of rubber gasket is used for this? Can it be purchased elsewhere and if so what is it called?

Im so far digging the EGR flares as they seem to cover the painted area of the front bumper and also the OE generic ones. I am thinking the EGR pocket ones wont look too good on stock 20's.

thanks

I'm currently digging the EGR ones. They seem to cover the color keyed area of the front bumper top half also. As I don't like the ones that stop at the bumper.

What flares are you even talking about that don't stop at the bumper? And are you on stock tires and wheels?

The EGR ones and OE copy ones. Notice how it has an extra part / lenght for the front to cover some of the bumper.

I have the Power Wagon clone flares in your top picture on my truck. Not too bad quality, and there is no rubber gasket at all. It used 3M tape to adhere the top of flare to the fender. I used the existing screws in the fender well to secure the bottom of the flares. They provide screws and say to just zip them in making new holes which i didnt like. Take the extra time and use pre existing screws

Dont you have a gap between the edge and the fender without the rubber gasket? I emailed a few random clone OE fender flare suppliers on ebay, none of them supply the rubber gasket with their kits. Also, I am wondering, how is the bottom of the front fender flare connected, is it same as the OE Mopar ones, meaning can I still attach my duraflap mudlfaps on the truck? thanks.

Did you find any pictures of a Sports with fender flares? If so, what brand were they? I've been told that if you put flares on a Sport you should use the ones for a 2500 instead of a 1500 because of the bumper cover.

I have the ones in the bottom pic you posted (on the off-white truck). I bought them from Amazon. They come with screws that I recommend not using. They have 3M tape on the back that hold them almost flush and keep the plastic from rubbing the paint.

The adhesive on these holds on tight. Just be sure to prepare the surface prior to applying and they won't go anywhere. They hold on just as firmware as the badges on our trucks and can be removed the same way.

Still wondering if you're on stock tires and rims? If so it's not gonna look good with your tires tucked in.

Agreed...I used 1.5" wheel spacers. Now the wheels are just a hair shy of the flare and even with the 4" oval step bars.

I feel the duraflaps will still be useful on the OE type fender flares, but maybe not the pocket ones.
As far as I know you cannot have both. Even the little fender guards have to come off to put the flares on.

Right, this might be with the after market OE types. As Ive seen a few OE ones with the duraflaps and others fitted on them.

The duraflaps merely need a flat area on the inside of the flare to attach to via screws. I read about it briefly on their website when I was buying them, but didnt pay too much attention at the time. They said something about, if the inside of the fender flare is curved then it wont work or something.

There is also a thread about it on the ram1500 diesel forums which fortunately for them Im not a member of.. olive looking laramie. I think its got to do with if the inside of the flare is flat shaped or not primarily. Perhaps the aftermarket OE ones are not. Unsure.

Some pics..
