alright. I got new shoes put on my truck and I noticed my brake pedal feels less spongy. I noticed before too after I brought it in to have tires rebalanced and an alignment before this that they felt less squishy then too but eventually went back to squishy. It’s only squishy up front on the pedal. Once you feel pressure in the pedal you can feel the brakes get tight. Any idea what’s causing this? It feels better and more responsive braking right now that it’s firm but I’m sure it’ll get squishy again. As far as I know the shop didn’t touch my brakes? Was debating on swapping to braided lines to see if that firmed my pedal back up but it doesn’t seem like it’s an issue with the lines if it’s tight now. No brake fluid leak that I’ve noticed

Start simple, check your brake reservoir. Is it at the required Full line? If so move on to bleeding your brakes, that should fix it. If not and your brake lines are fine like you say then you can either have a faulty brake master cylinder or caliper.

Brake fluid is good. I may try bleeding to see but it’s ok right now. It’s just weird how both times the tires were removed from the truck my brakes seem to feel better. I’ve never had an issue with stopping. And I don’t see what could have been done that would change anything to make it feel tighter

Just remeber if you bleed your brakes yourself do all 4 corners and start furthest from your brake master cylinder so your rear right brake first.

Well...from experience, these trucks seem to have a lot of travel in the brake pedal. Not necessarily spongy, but the pedal has alot of movement. On my 07 and my 2011...sometimes feels like your pushing a long ways to get the truck fully stopped. After a pad/rotor change it has gotten a little better, at least you feel the grip of the pads on the rotors better

I notice it more when I drive another vehicle that has a lot more sensitive braking system...the first few stops are usually very hard and sudden because im use to pushing the pedal so much further.

Just out of curiosity, original pads/rotors? Mileage on them?
