Yes, there's a blog of several vehicles camped clearly out on the roadless flat terrain not far from Swasey's Cabin. The vehicles are parked all over the sage brush. It's dated 2011. Just a few ruin it for the rest of us. The Wilderness forever closes it off for basically anything mechanized including bicycles. I haven't seen any hikers out there ever.
Yep...been wandering Utah since the early 90's and while I'm def still a newcomer, the changes I've witnessed in crowds and behavior are disheartening. Wilderness designations need to be more malleable and nuanced to every areas specific needs.
The BLM is no longer (maybe they never were) capable of balancing extraction and stewardship. It's a total joke. They're an auction house for corporate greed. It's sad. The move to GJ where they literally share a building with Exxon and Chevron says it all.
Couple that with this entitled libertarian bs that has everyone believing they are special and the exception to any notion of decorum and we are where we are. Google "Zion Graffiti" and see just how horrible human behavior is.
I'd rather see things locked up in wilderness designations" than ruined forever.
Just wait until they finally transfer HIR rd into state control and pave it all the way to Powell so they can bus motard tourons down there.
