Guilty as charged, but I did own / co-found the premier “tactical”media company in a previous life so it kinda came with the territory.

Got out a few times this past week...

Quick midweek rip about 5 miles from the house:

Took the old warhorse 200 out on the Arizona Strip yesterday afternoon and decided to race to the canyon for sunset. 200 miles on dirt round trip, the last 15 to the rim are actually kinda spicy. Got there just in time...

Not such a bad week. The 200 is such a great ride, gonna be tough to let her go when the PW is finished being built.

Love that area, spent quite a bit of time down there over the years.

The taco in TRD Pro trim is an epic little rally machine. Bought it for my ex's daughter to use when she turned 16 but that's not a thing anymore. Had kept it as my built 200 series Land Cruiser is kinda ridiculous to run errands with, but after a year of that nonsense I decided I could consolidate by trading the taco, building a PW and then selling the LC. We'll see how it works out.

How does the new PW compare to the LC? I have someone flying out from Chicago to buy my 80 series. The 200 and PW are on my short list...can't make up my mind. Have only owned Toyotas for 20+ years and am a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on a Ram. They sure seem like awesome machines, but the Land Cruisers just don't die or depreciate much.

Having owned three now (two 100s and one 200) I believe Toyota is currently living on reputation more than quality. Consider, for example, the certainty of failure of the 200 radiators by 100k, the starter solenoid failures (which, btw, is located behind the PS exhaust manifold and not easily repaired or jumpered across in the field), the rear wheel bearings which last 75k, the cam tower leaks on the 3UR... Toyota definitely builds a good ship, but so does everyone else these days. Back in the 80's and 90's domestic auto manufacturing was horrible. Toyota (as well as Honda and Nissan) capitalized on their engineering, machining, and assembly quality. The automated factory, computerized designs, and outsourcing of subcomponents has closed this gap. And while the JD Power Charts still show Toyota often in the lead it's not like it used to be.

125k on my 2013, with 50k being pretty hard offroad use here in Utah, and I've had none of those issues with no signs of impending failures. The only thing that's been problematic on my 200 is the sensor for the auto wipers and my BP-51's are needing a rebuild after 60k miles.

Totally different vehicles that can't really be compared. Stock to stock would be one conversation, fully built another, and both would really hinge on how you plan to use them. The 2500 is a much larger platform and thus far less agile, the 200 is limited in it's adaptability as it's a wagon.

Sweet LC, I have a LX570 (wife’s now I guess) Curious if you anticipate the PW being able to outperform the Land Cruiser off-road?
