Got my tail lights tinted!

Question for you & others...I've done this before so I may do this...versus paying someone $100-$200. My question is was there any prep, sanding involved? I see you did 2 coats of VHT and then clear. Is VHT local (Autozone? or need to be ordered). I guess thats more than 1 question lol. Just trying to decide if I can do this myself. Thanks! Oh...will standard painters tape suffice for the clear windows (rever/cargo lights)?

There a bunch of How To videos on YouTube. Watch em, find the common themes and go with it.

Follow the recoat directions, don't paint when it's convenient for you, paint to get the best adhesion.

Get quality automotive masking tape, not generic tan painters tape.
You won't get the crisp edge with cheap tape.
Have a new Xacto knife for cutting the edge too.

Peal the tape before the last coat sets so you don't peal it all off.
(Think about this when applying the tape)

I bought sandpaper and was prepared to sand and polish if it didn't turn out shiny, but it did. Two coats of Niteshade then about 3 coats of clear. Peeled the tape and cleared over the entire tail light.

I'm in Canada, picked up the Niteshade and clear coat at Canadian Tire. About $14 per can each.
