TLDR: Tail Light socket stopped working and every replacement part didnt fix the problem.

I need some help guys. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 V6 Tradesman and last week I got a message on my dash stating "left rear turn signal not working". So I changed the bulb and nothing. The bulb is lit when the lights are activated, but will not get brighter for the brake or blink for the turn signal.

So I swapped out the whole socket with my right tail light and it started working like normal. It blinked with the turn signal, and got brighter with the brake. So sweet, I found the issue!

I bought the part from O'reilly's, installed it and its not working at all. Thinking it was defective, I ordered a new part from O'reilly's and installed it the next day, and nope. So I ordered the socket from Napa, installed it and same thing, the bulb is lit but wont get brighter for the brake or turn signal. So I ordered an OEM part from Mopar's website, received it today and same damn thing.

I dont know what to do from here besides going to a salvage yard and pulling it off a totalled Ram.

If you unplugged the entire left rear light unit = use a test light to test the plug where the unit plugs in. If there is no power to the test light there when having turn signal (or whatever doesn't work when having unit plugged in and engaged...) there must either be a short / damaged wire or wires or there is a problem with something farther into the computer / TIPM. Hopefully someone will chime in with more solid suggestions.

These trucks are sensitive to the sockets. Non-oem sockets seem to cause issues. Have you tried clearing the codes from the bcm after plugging the Mopar one in? You'd need either Alfaobd or a scanner that can scan and clear bcm codes to do so. If that doesn't work, try swapping the new Mopar over to the right side and put the right side socket in the left. If the error follows the socket, I'd say it's still an issue with the socket and send the Mopar socket back and get one from a local dealer if possible. Dealer price shouldn't be too bad, "should" be under $20.
