Does your shift dial make. Robot sound when u step on the brake? I just noticed when I step on the brake like it is disengaging a mechanism to allow u to turn knob. It makes sense just don't think I ever noticed it.

It does. It's a solenoid that locks it in Park.

Same here. Only in park or neutral with the truck on or off. Very odd noise compared to other vehicles with park lock out but that's a normal sound

I don't notice it on my ram but my work truck (ford ranger) makes the noise noticeably when stepping on the brake. It is the shift lock solenoid

I've noticed the noise but never really worried about it.

I notice it more when I'm messing around cleaning my truck. Like turn the truck off after a couple of minutes I hear all sorts of whirling noises, still have no clue what it is, and its not like I'm hitting the brakes or anything.
