Guys, would any of you know what this rubber tube/hose is and if this is normal just hanging loosely at the bottom of the bed? I have seen posts that has a similar tube saying its a vent hose for the rear differential (Axle Vent tube) ?? Im not sure however because the info was for an older model. I have a 2018 Ram 1500 Night Edition. I just had a cat-back flowmaster outlaw installed a few days ago and its possible that the installer accidentally disconnected it but I have no way to prove it at this point if he did it or if it was already like that when I got the vehicle. Its was purchased new on 1st of May 2018 so its only a month old.20180602_221024.jpg

PS: I tried following the tube and it seems to go to the rear left suspension but couldnt trace it any further without lifting it

Not sure on ram. But my ff150 had that come loose. It was connected to a fitting on the top of the rearend. Was just. A Small little fitting too. I only found it cause it wasn’t covered in dirt like everything else

It is in fact, the rear axle vent tube. It connects to a small barbed fitting on top of the axle tube, to the left of the differential housing. Crawl under the truck and just push it right back on. Maybe add a small hose clamp to eliminate it from falling off again.

Ok so I found this metal tube piece sticking out and it's part of the axle. Would you guys know if this tube connects to that?

I believe your question was answered. :)

Mine has a hose attached to it. Here is a picture. Excuse the fluid film I sprayed yesterday.

If you are close to a dealer, just stop by. That is a quick fix, no need to crawl under there on a new truck!

Hey not to hijack the thread here but does anyone know where the other end is supposed to go to? Mine unclipped from somewhere and rather have it back in place than just dangling and looking stupid. To be clear it's not the end connected to the diff, the opposite end of the tube is disconnected.

Anywhere up out of the way, so that mud and dirt don’t get down into it.

Damn that fluid film is some nasty stuff! The rear axle breather is to keep water out when driving thru deep puddles. Like suggested earlier, reattatch the rubber hose with a stainless hose clamp, and tighten. Should keep it from coming off again.
