I have the hard trifold. Love it.

I’ve had various trucks over the past 20+ years. Each have their purpose. I’ve had camper tops, soft, roll up tops, and now the tri-fold hard top. I’ll never get anything else. I love it that much!!!

I bought a truxedo in 2010 when I bought Hemrietta. It lasted until 2 years ago. I bought another one. This one has aluminum slats under the cover so you can't just cut through to get to the bed. They're really secure and it's tough to impossible to get to the latch to pull. This one has a wire hidden underneath that is blocked by an aluminum slat. So you'd need to be able to wiggle your fingers under and then pull the recessed cord. It's near impossible.

When rolled up it takes little space. I can easily fit most anything in it. I mountain bike frequently and I can stand up 3 bikes with 29" tires easily. The front tires just touch the rolled up cover. It's also pretty water tight. I have driven through some heavy Seattle ran with no water in the bed at all.

Their customer service is incredible as well!

My Motto: Buy It Once So You Don't Have To Buy It Again
I couldn't make up my mind between a hard or soft Tonneau cover - they both come in tri-fold that I want
I can be a cheapskate and find a soft tri-fold for as low as $180 or I can spend $500+ for a hard tri-fold.
My issue is snow and ice load on the bed cover in the winter, I live in a high mountain snow belt where it's normal to get feet of snow and I just have issues of a foot of snow weight crashing down a soft bed cover, yes, I know it has a ridge on it where some snow can slide off but many times we get heavy snow mixed with rain that freezes that turns the snow pack stuck like a big snow ice cube.
My disavantages is I use my bed a lot for heavy hauling where I will need to remove the tonneau frequently and it will be heavier and much more effort to remove. But most of the time I'm not hauling.
The Amazon picture shows a man standing on top of the hard tonneau cover that supports 350 lbs, has anybody tested that on their own hard cover? ( I would rather buy the $500 one from Amazon than spend $1000+ for the brand name ones thinking they are the same )
And I believe the hard covers on a Polaris Ranger that sit on top of the side bed rails are stronger and provide better weather protection and sealing than the low-profile level fit ones that use an added rail?
I would love to read your opinions
Thank You
For heavy snow areas, a hard tri-fold is usually the better choice. It handles snow and ice much better than a soft cover, and rail-mounted hard covers generally provide stronger support and better weather sealing. The Amazon cover rated for 350 lbs should hold up under normal conditions, though ice-packed snow can be heavier, so exercise caution. The main downside is weight; it is heavier and harder to remove if you frequently haul heavy loads. Overall, for your situation, a hard cover on top of the bed rails offers the best combination of strength, durability, and weather protection without spending on brand-name premiums.
