Have a 2020 Grand Cherokee that my wife drives mostly in town. In town the transmission never gets above 150F of so. Noticed when we were out on the highway yesterday that the 8 speed transmission was running at about 185 F in 80 F air temperature, similar to what the 1500s seem to run at. My 2500 never goes above 168, no matter how hot it is outside or how long I run at freeway speeds. I know the difference is only 20 degrees but curious if anyone has installed a Caulk style thermostatic bypass on their Jeeps to get the transmissions to run cooler on the highway.

Have you been under it,to see if it has the thermal heater like the 1500's Dean. I didn't think the Jeeps had it,but i've never actually been under one to look. If they don't,you can buy bypass units for the cars, and i'm guessing also for the Jeeps, but they're a bit differant then Jesse's bypass is,as the thermostat will be in the cooler lines.
This is what the trucks heater looks like.

Very good point. Will have to put it up on the lift and have a look. I was presuming that it has it because of the temp it is running, but it may not.

The cars use a seperate stand alone thermostat, that's in the cooler lines, and doesn't feed hot coolant to the transmission, like the 1500's do,and i was under the impression the Jeeps were similiar to the cars, but like i said,i've never actually been under a newer 8 speed Jeep to check.
